Thats what i thought and no it was still looking for an enet link.
has anyone gotten the wireless operation to work? p.s. even plugged in it would not give comms till the wireless was disabled |

The Driver Station needs the appropriate IP address in order to communicate with the robot. To run wirelessly, try setting the wired LAN connection to use DHCP ("obtain address automatically" or something like that) and set the wireless LAN connection to use the 10.X.Y.5 address. You might also have to disable the wired connection completely to keep the DS application from trying to reconfigure it.

I got it to work by switching the local to dhcp thanks Alan.
Now is there anyway to eliminate the bridge from the equation? |

Yes, plug the cRIO directly into the router. The DS will complain that it can't ping the bridge on the diagnostics tab, but that's just diagnostics, it doesn't affect the operation.
