Yes, the RCU is still alive & kicking
![]() We actually have about 172 members, 20 of which we just gained from the FIRST Place Women in Science & Tech Forum, and we are very proud of their determination in making the RCU expand. Our new big thing is planning on meetings at regionals, with the success of the 2001 Nationals meeting. There are 17 girls signed up to represent the RCU at 6 regionals, so if you're wondering if the RCU will be meeting at a regional near you, let me know and I will post a list. Our adult mentor population has increased greatly, too...if you know of any adults that would like to mentor, they can sign up on the website. Speaking of the website, it is updated - www.rcuweb.org. If you have any questions or suggestions, let me know, we always love the input! |

I totally agree with Jess. The RCU has grown to be really big and sucessful, I don't think anything would have happened with out Jess or Kristen. So I thank them for all there time spent on RCU . . because they devote a wicked lot of time to what they do. RCU will grow more during the FIRST 2002 competition! Anyways good luck and thank you!

Hey Jess, what about an RCU award next year to be given out at the Nationals by FIRST to one of your members for services rendered???
It would be a great way of promoting the RCU and enlighten all as to what the RCU does. If you can make it fly I will donate the first "FIRST RCU" Trophy to be given in Florida. Nick |

I'll pitch in for that award.
Engineering is such a male dominated profession. Where I work there is only one woman in our department and she is a secretary. There should be more opportunity's for women to make it in the engineering profession. In my three years of schooling I have known only three women to come out of the Engineering Sciences with a degree. If a woman wants to pusue an engineering profession I say they should be able to, and orginizations like the RCU help make that a reality. ~My applause to all the women engineers who have; or who will come out of FIRST and the RCU. |
