Solid Works Trouble

I am new to the FIRST program

I was wondering if anyone knew how to download Solid-Works 2010 from my school onto my laptop. My school has had this trouble for awhile and it would really help if someone could give us a tutorial.

We cant find out what to do!

Thx

Re: Solid Works Trouble

In this case, you'd probably want to talk to the school about stuff like # of seats available on their license. It may be that they're already maxed out, or have something to prevent unauthorized downloads onto personal computers. Seeing as you've had this trouble for a while, that's the first place I'd check.

Re: Solid Works Trouble

thx

I appreciate the you replied my post
But maybe just a little more information like a step-by-step thing to do.

We have already tried to login to the Solid Works website, but the school password to the software license didnt work. So we asked the guy inchange of the Solid Works license and he gave us the same password!
So then eveyone who wanted Solid Works gave the guy incharge their emails so the guy incharge could send an email to Solid Works requesting for Solid Works to send everyone a email to get the software.
Confusing....
And of course.... they didnt reply

So with a month to our main kickoff event, non of us can download Solid Works. It would really help if someone could give us a tutorial on Solid Works

Once agian, Thx

Re: Solid Works Trouble

At this point, I'd contact mplanchard. (Or maybe she'll see this thread and reply.)

FYI, I'd say that if the school password doesn't work, the school is probably out of seats on their license, or somebody forgot to write the right password. It's also possible that the school's license has expired. (Or maybe everybody's reading it wrong.)

Re: Solid Works Trouble

Contact SolidWorks directly. Tell them you are on a FIRST team and would prefer to use their software over Inventor. They would probably hook you up.

Re: Solid Works Trouble

Hi Kyle

Lets see if I can help you. Something is not right and we can fix this.

First of all, I need to know what edition of the SoldWorks license you have. Do you have a serial number? THe serial number you can find under Help, About SolidWorks.

There are two licenses you may have:

SolidWorks Education Edition - network license; owned by your school; Your school may also have the Student Design Kit where you can use SolidWorks at home. This serial number is tied to your education edition.

SolidWorks Student Access - this is what we provide to FIRST teams we sponsor. You receive a DVD and there are multiple activitations - however, this licenses are not networked and expire in 1 year.

You do not want to install the student access product over the education edition. The education editon never expires.

There are two courses of action:
1. Have your IT admin contact your SolidWorks reseller
2. Have your IT admin send me a private message on cheif delphi

Let me help you get this resolved. Marie
