Trouble submitting Safety Animation to FIRST

We completed our animation entry. We tried to post using the USFIRST website. Obviously the project is large in size. The 15 minute timer runs out before the entry is uploaded. Does anyone have suggestions?

Also, there is no status bar to indicate how far the project has gone.

HELP !!!! Deadline is noon tomorrow.

Re: Trouble submitting Safety Animation to FIRST

We are having the same problem. The 15 minute timer is running out before we can submit our entry.

Did you find a solution to this problem?

Have you tried visiting a different page in another tab every 10 minutes?

Re: Trouble submitting Safety Animation to FIRST

Our team converted the file to the .iso format that took it from 115Mb to 13Mb. That seemed to work without a hitch. If you are worried about the .iso file working it can be tested using the VLC player.

Re: Trouble submitting Safety Animation to FIRST

Couple of things,

we tried Chrome, IE, and Firefox. None of them worked.

Our file size is 600 meg, with video, music, and voice overlay for the 40 second movie. This is the ISO size of the file. I realize that this is big, but that is what it resulted in. Would be nice to know if there was a size limit from FIRST.

You cannot change pages every 10 minutes or the file download stops.

No answer - still searching for help from FIRST!!

Re: Trouble submitting Safety Animation to FIRST

We finally got ours to upload. One of our mentors was able to use his connection at work to upload the file to the FIRST site.

Looks like having sufficient bandwidth on our end was enough to make it work. Our file size was about 140mb and took approximately 10 mins to upload.

Re: Trouble submitting Safety Animation to FIRST

This just in from FIRST (see copy of email below). The deadline was extended one day because of the problems and the timeout has been changed. Looks like it is now working. Also, there appears to be a size limit so I would suggest AVI format instead of MOV. Keep file size below 150 meg.

Hello Dave!

Thank you for your email – yes the timing on the STIMS website we are finding is not long enough to upload the Safety Animation Videos from teams. Please advise that we are working on extending the system time-out and teams do have until 12pm Eastern Time tomorrow December 7, 2010 to submit their Safety Animation Videos.

Please let us know if you have any further questions!

GO TEAMS!!
