Wireless Set Up Problem

We are trying to set up a prototype using a new cRIO but with our old wireless router and bridge and are running into an interesting problem.

With the IP address of the PC set to 10.0.56.10, I plug the PC into the router and if I browse for 10.0.56.4, I can see the router set-up (with the correct settings)

If I plug the PC directly into the wireless bridge and browse to 10.0.56.1, I can see the bridge set-up (with the correct settings)

However, if I plug the PC into the router with no connection to the bridge, I can not see the Bridge

Any ideas on what's wrong here? thanks

Have you checked the WGA encryption (read: is the encryption of the bridge off)?

also, make sure the router's settings are correct (should be on FIRST's website under control system documentation)

Are we to infer from the above that you can see the bridge when the PC is plugged into the router if the bridge is wired to the router? You didn't state this explicitly but it seems to be implied.

Re: Wireless Set Up Problem

If you haven't reset the bridge since your last event, it could still be set up to work through FMS instead of directly from the wireless router

My team is having a wierd problem with the robot from last year, the bridge doesn't seem to be able to connect to the router. The router and the classmate are hooked up and working fine, but the bridge is not. Does that mean that we need a new bridge?

Re: Wireless Set Up Problem

I don't think so. Check the encryption mentioned earlier. If it's on, turn it off.

Re: Wireless Set Up Problem

I was working at a Rookie workshop this weekend and we discovered that the new routers default to 5ghz instead of 2.4ghz. Go into the wireless settings of the router (make sure you are using Internet explorer and not another browser) and change it to enable 802.11b and g. That should allow you to see your team's SSID.
