I think there my be more to Bill's Blogs than meets the eye...

Lets take "The view from 30,000 feet" for example. A quick search of flight at 30,000 feet finds this
"Depending upon the length of the flight and the type of aircraft, cruising altitudes typically vary between approximately 25,000 feet and 40,000 feet. For longer flights, it is not uncommon for an airliner to change cruising altitudes several times, gradually working its way to higher levels as it burns off fuel and becomes lighter in weight.
