The funny thing is that with digital video, the connector quality doesn't really matter so much. If it works, it works. Signal degradation is a thing of the past.

Since hardly anyone understands this stuff, it's easy to sell overpriced cables.

I've noticed this with a lot of things best buy sells. I like best buy and all but they are kinda pricy. I ended up buying a 2 in one pack for $40 with a 9ft cable and a 3ft cable. My brother needed one any way so $20 I figured wasn't to bad for a cable at best buy.

The internet beats Walmart 9/10 times in my experience. You can get cheap HDMI cables from Walmart's website ($3.98 for 6ft), but you can find them for as little as $2.75 on Amazon.

And to the OP, I'm sorry, but $20 cable for HDMI is a rip-off. Sometimes the more expensive cable may be a bit more physically durable, but when I can buy 5-10 less-durable cables for the price of one durable cable, I'll go quantity of quality every time. And that's not even getting into the cables that Best Buy sells for $100+.

MCM even sells turntable belts. Try finding those anywhere!

(My daughter just pointed out that turntable belts are right next to the sealing wax and buggy whips in the local Best Buy...)

I think you're right. I looked by the buggy whips and did not see turntable belts at all. I even asked, but they looked at me as if I was crazy, so I just backed away slowly...

I found the belts but not the buggy whips. They are by the vacuum cleaner bags. Go figure.

I was waxing nostalgic the other evening and explaining to my grown daughter that what is now a major 4-lane intersection with malls and shopping centers as far as the eye can see, used to be a 2-lane blacktop with a 4-way stop and a corner drug store that had a tube tester.

To which she answered, of course, "What's a tube?"

Don, you have to get with the times someday. No one uses belt-driven turntables to play music anymore...

They use direct drive turntables.

Not with a good turntable with a nice, heavy platter like an SL1200. The noise is offset by the quick startup time, which is pretty important for stuff like DJing or FM radio.

Meh, I'm probably too young to understand all this ancient technology.
