Internship

I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was an internship available in New Hampshire at FIRST headquarters.

My only suggestion is to contact FIRST in NH directly; start on the web site and see if there's anything about internships, and if not then you can get phone / email contact info.

Wish I didn't have a mortgage; 4 months at FIRST would be stimulating.

I tried that my senior year. I both email and called and left messages but no avail I never received a response. Guess I'll try again.

I'm not entirely sure on this, but I believe FIRST allows students to work at the camps held at FIRST Place. (Which was my first FIRST...)

Try looking around on the "FIRST Place" part of the FIRST website.

I'd say wait until the summer is getting closer, I believe that is when the internship positions start opening up.

As a former Administrative Assistant at FIRSTPlace which is a part of FIRST Headquarters, I can tell you in my knowledge they have had interns in the office before. I think one was in IT and the other one I'm not sure. I don't know how they got the job, or how you go about getting an internship yourself. But it's not surprising that it sounds like your emails are getting lost in the mass amounts they receive. You just have to be "graciously persistent" and hopefully it'll get through to the point where you can get an answer. I honestly don't know who in particular could really help you out just thinking of names. But depending on what exactly you want to do for an internship, I would try and find out the person at FIRST who is particularly in charge of that area of expertise (marketing, game design, volunteer management, IT, etc.) and dial their extensions directly and leave a message.

FIRSTPlace did used to do summer camps, but I'm not entirely sure if they are continuing in 2011. If they do, they usually hire 2 students to be paid lead counselors and the rest of the students that help out are unpaid volunteers. Just keep checking the website and if/when they announce it, contact FIRSTPlace and express your interest with being involved -- if you are interested of course.

The best thing that you can do is get in touch with someone there. It shows that you are being proactive about getting involved in the company and your passion for working there. Even if they don't have any openings, this will get your name out there and in contact with them.

This is true. As a little kid, I went to those camps, and then I worked at the FIRST place summer camps for 4 years in high school. It's a great experience. If that's what you're looking for, it's so so SO much fun.
