But Eric is right, this is not for sure, and will likely go through the Q&A. |

Re: Mini Bots
There is no rule either way, which is why I said we don't know.
If someone does know one way or another, and can back it up with a rule, then that would be greatly appreciated. However, in the numerous times it's been asked today, nobody's come up with a rule going either way. |

Re: Mini Bots
I would say, in my opinion, all it has to do is hit the sensor.
<G02> states "If a minibot triggers the target within the set time period, the target light will illuminate to indicate in which place the minibot finished." So i would say this is clearly saying it merely has to trigger the target which illuminates the light, which in turn signifies you scored. Someone please put this in Q&A ![]() Last edited by Duke461 : 08-01-2011 at 20:27. |

Re: Mini Bots
I guess the real question is, does the target have to stay triggered; i.e., will the 1st place be lost if the minibot slides down after triggering the target.
No answer yet from manual on that. |

Re: Mini Bots
well, as i said above, it only has to trigger it, so that automatically is saying it wouldnt have to stay triggered. also i dont think the GDC would miss something that important

Re: Mini Bots
I asked two separate GDC members at Manchester this very question. They indicated that there was no need for the mini-bots to stay in contact with the plate once the switch was closed. The field only looked for the switch states to change, and immediately 'scores' the mini-bot accordingly.
An official statement and rule update will be forthcoming, I'm sure, but for now I am operating under the assumption that the minibot does not need to remain in contact or supporting the plate. |

Re: Mini Bots
OK, that's more what I was looking for. It wasn't clear from the Manual that a robot only had to trip the sensor and could then do what it liked, instead of trip the sensor, back down, and then realize that it was now in 3rd place because somebody got up while it was down a bit.

Re: Mini Bots
If we build mutiple minbots for the purpose of lending them out will they be considered towards the weight requirements of our robot?

The MINIBOT/CLIENTBOT does not count towards the weight of the FRC robot, and although I never saw it specified, follows FTC weight and size rules. I do believe this could also mean that your minibot does not have to be in the box by February 22, nor does it count to your travel weight. |

Re: Mini Bots
Just under the Minibot section of the rulebook:
<R91> The MINIBOT may not exceed a 12" x12" X 12" volume and weight no more than 15 lbs |

Re: Mini Bots
The amount of Newtons needed to set off the light is 2-4, it says it in the manual, i just don't have it on me right now.

Re: Mini Bots
I know I don't have very many posts, but I think it wouldn't be a terrible idea to post and sticky a "What We Don't Know About Logomotion" thread to prevent 3 different threads asking for peg height, certain minibot parameters, and the like.
