Height of PVC pole in team version of tower
I can't seem to find the length of the pvc pole in the team version of the tower for the minibot. Does anyone know it?

Re: Height of PVC pole in team version of tower
I think you're suppose to not make it out of PVC,the real piece is 1 1/2" EMT (conduit) that you should be able to find at Home Depot or Lowes. It's 120" for reference.

Re: Height of PVC pole in team version of tower
In the version for teams to build in the shop, low cost, its listed as just "Pole" so I took a guess that it was PVC as almost everything else was. Thanks!

Re: Height of PVC pole in team version of tower
well it would just be best for the minibot if it was the same material as what it would be in the actual competition fields. the differences in friction could be an important factor.

Re: Height of PVC pole in team version of tower
As well as the differences in friction, the minibots are, as I found more or less implied, supposed to use magnets to stay attached to the pole. Unless you have some super pvc, I don't think the same electromagnetic field applies.

The team version of the tower uses the same material as the normal competition tower. Item #3 on drawing TE-11008 references a drawing from the competition game element drawing GE-11061. The tower pole is a 10 foot 1-1/2" Steel EMT (aka electrical conduit). There are different types of steel conduit. Make sure you get "EMT." |

That's one option that was given, not a mandate by any means.

diameter of pole in team version of tower
I am reading in several posts about a 1.5 od inch emt pole. It seems the drawings are calling for a 1.75 inch od. can anyone clarify. thanks.

Re: diameter of pole in team version of tower
To confirm if I was to measure a 1.5" EMT pipe, the O.D. would be 1.75"? (or roughly 1.75")

Re: Height of PVC pole in team version of tower
Perhaps the updates will clarify the outside diameter.
A 1.5" EMT pole has a 1.9" OD. As noted earlier in this post, there are references to something different. I would get clarification just to make sure. |

You are correct. See this website: http://www.home4c.com/conduit.htm Scroll to the bottom to view EMT sizes. -Brando |

You have the wrong conduit. You have "rigid" conduit, not EMT. 1 1/2" rigid conduit has a thicker wall with an OD of 1.9". |
