Anyone interested in winning a Segway?

Anyone interested in winning a Segway?

Emhart and Nasa Tech Briefs are sponsoring a design contest with a Segway as the first prize.

It would be great for a FIRST team to win this with one of their innovative design ideas.

See http://www.emhartcontest.com for the rules.

I entered

I just entered the TechnoKats' "6 Motor Drive Assembly w/ Pneumatic Shifting".

It was pretty easy to enter (taking all of 10 minutes), since I already had it written up.

We'll see how it turns out.

Personally, I would take the $20000. Paying 5% taxes on that $20,000 automobile would put you at a $1000 deficit. Of course, you'd make money when they market your idea and pay you royalties.

LOL... I don't think that would work...

They're looking for devices that they can market. This is a developing company that is looking for ideas for products to sell. They have first rights to market your invention, no matter what place you take. They collect the profits and make money, paying you the royalties.

Chances are, if you have such an extraordinary idea, you could make more money by marketing it yourself. Developing the idea, however, can be more challenging (building a proper prototype that meets federal requirements).

Did you see you get a free set of cheap tools just for entering? So does that mean I can just come up with something stupid right now, draw it, and get some tools?
