Windriver Example

When i try and create a new example in Windriver on 7 x64 I get a window title Example Wizard, but without any content. I have installed all updates. Anyone else have a similar problem or solution.

This is a known issue. WindRiver Workbench is not supported on x64. You'll need to run it on a 32bit windows. Sorry.

Re: Windriver Example

Really? Wind River doesn't work on x64??? I am in a big panic now. Are you sure? I ran Wind River on my 64-bit desktop last season. Most of the new computers in the last few years are all x64. And of course I got a new laptop last year! So I can't use my new laptop at all then? Can I run it in a 32-bit VM? May I ask why it doesn't support 64-bit? In theory, 64-bit Windows can run 32-bit applications. So there is no reason why Wind River doesn't work even if it is a 32-bit application unless it has a kernel mode component such as a driver. Kernel mode components on a x64 platform must be 64-bit. But I remember NI provided 64-bit driver last season. If that's true, I need to figure out what to do with my team because a lot of them have 64-bit laptops.

Re: Windriver Example

If it works for you then there's no reason to stop using it. We just noticed some UI problems on x64 that would make some necessary controls on some dialogs invisible. It has nothing to do with drivers. We're guessing it's a problem with the older version of Java and Eclipse that Workbench uses, but we aren't sure. Unfortunately we don't have the option to upgrade to the latest version of Workbench and WindRiver is not interested in fixing issues with an obsolete version of their tools.

If you can figure out a workaround or otherwise know how to make the UI components all show up on x64, please let us know.

It works in a 32bit VM.

Re: Windriver Example

Thought it might be something like that. I'll run it in XP mode. I just didn't want to spend the 4 hours installing if I did not need to. Thanks all.
