Arm

This year for logomation we are trying to make a hand. but we are all new and have little experience with robotics arm
We are thinking about a V shaped pincer type hand which goes up and down by a elevator.
What you guys think about that, and please give us suggestion for different type of arms and what does our idea sounds like to you.
We really need alot of help

Re: Arm

I think the best starting point is a simple arm with 3 parts to turn and change elevation. The hand/clasp for the tubes should be slightly rounded, like pincers, to begin with. From there simply see what works with experimentation.

Hope I helped,
Will

Re: Arm

I would suggest going on www.thebluealliance.net and watch the game from 2007 for ideas.... it's basically the same and there are some good robots.

Re: Arm

Scissor lifts, like what you're talking about, can work, but in my experience they are heavier than arms, and slower. They do collapse into a very small volume when designed properly, so it would be beneficial to having a low CG.
