Re: Car Nack Predicts 2011-2
I thought the Deployment mechanism was considered the Hostbot.

Re: Car Nack Predicts 2011-2
The HOSTBOT is the main FRC Legal Robot as defined in the Robot Manual Section 4. The MINIBOT is the separate entity that is inspected separately. Combined, the MINIBOT and the HOSTBOT become the ROBOT.

Well I wonder how effective a loaner minibot would be without a deployment system to get it to the pole? |

Re: Car Nack Predicts 2011-2
<R11> says the MINIBOT does not count towards the robot's starting volume - you could probably make a loaner minibot that deploys itself when it hits the tower base...

Re: Car Nack Predicts 2011-2
The MINIBOT is exempt from weight and size constraints in <R11>. But is it exempt from <R14>?

Would be a great question for Q&A.

Re: Car Nack Predicts 2011-2
I don't know that I would want my team's MINIBOT sticking outside the frame perimeter of another team's HOSTBOT before the endgame, unless all three robots on the opposing alliance were dead in the water, heh.

Re: Car Nack Predicts 2011-2
I'll bet a lot of teams are in our boat: As nice as it would be to win another cooperitition trophy, devoting the cash toward it (not to mention the time) is prohibitive...
...especially considering that (pfreivald predicts) all truly effective MINIBOT designs will have effective HOSTBOT designs that integrate with them, and are not general deployment mechanisms... |

Re: Car Nack Predicts 2011-2
So at least 1 Car Nack prediction is true. Kettering did not have a 4 minibot deployment match.
