Re: pic: 3021 The Agency's Omni-Directional Mecanum
Won't those not work as mecanum wheels since the rollers point in opposite directions on the same wheel?
Or are you just using them as omniwheels for a killigough platform? |

On the "runs circles around West Coast Drive", you got any video? If you don't, I'm rather skeptical. |

Oh WOW! Interesting idea.....still I must echo the concern or others... are these four different wheels or single wheels with dual sets of rollers.... not sure the latter could work.
Steve <afterthought> OMG!!!! These wheels MOONWALK!!!!! Last edited by Steve_Alaniz : 01-02-2011 at 22:19. Reason: Not as funny as I thought....<snerk!> |

Re: pic: 3021 The Agency's Omni-Directional Mecanum
Oh! I think those are a full set of four... correct me if I am wrong.
Those look like really high quality rollers! Were those purchased from some obscure secret warehouse or do you have a sponsor capable of advanced machining? (Presumably CNC mill, CNC lathe, and some custom hardware...)Good luck this year! Petrie |

Re: pic: 3021 The Agency's Omni-Directional Mecanum
Assuming these are only 2 wheels... if you could tilt the wheels on one set of rollers or the other it would make an interesting drive.

we are spoiled. The Hub of the rollers used some fancy set ups on the Drill press/ Mill (didnt use a single CNC on them, and the students produced them). The Rollers were made on the CNC lathe. Quote:

Re: pic: 3021 The Agency's Omni-Directional Mecanum
4 inches. Good thing we have a flat field this year! We'd never get over any bumps otherwise! I think we've epitomized "low-rider": our gearboxes nearly touch the carpet.

There are bumps by the tower from where they are mounted under neath the carpet. If you've got about .5"-.75" of Clearance you should be alright. |

Words fail me.
Those are some pretty sweet rollers. I hope, at some point, I get to see these in action in person. Maybe even up close in your pit somewhere. |
