Great idea to pursue.

I just did a quick check on my little island state and noticed the following....

Some of the teams listed are no longer participating in FIRST. Understandable.

As well there are a few that were not listed and sadly we were one of them.

I did check and we are listed on The Blue Alliance. http://www.thebluealliance.com/team/3880/history


We are not that new of a team, 4 years and running strong..

Let alone the other missing team, 1378, from our island that has been in FIRST since 2004...

Good luck with this, I will keep checking in on it from time to time. It is a great way of showing the students how big FIRST has become and how much it can still grow..

Another idea that might be a little fun as you are playing around with it... would be to identify what the breakpoints are on team numbers for each year (or use an alternate method). Then make an animated GIF that shows the distribution of teams by year and how FIRST has spread to new areas and increased in density in existing areas.

Just took a look at Google Fusion Tables, and it's api seems perfect for scouting apps. You could overlay data on a field map.

Are there any teams that already use this for this function?

I started working on using Fusion to process scouting data, but abandoned it because you can create a better setup with a fluency in Excel commands. It's clear that Fusion is either still in its early stages, or has been neglected by Google. It has a lot of potential, but it seriously lacks some valuable features.

It was hovering around 3% I think, I didn't watch it the entire time, it took forever. I am guessing percent ambiguity is locations it can't figure out?

Yes, percent ambiguity is the quantity of locations that it was unsure about and has a high chance of showing an incorrect location.

Processing all the locations does take a while, if you have access to the lat./long. coordinates, it will process match faster as it doesn't have to cross reference each cell.

These coords are based on the primary school or sponsor locations and avoid the overlapping team problem as well as geocoding errors.
One tab is a list of all teams ever, while another tab are the teams for each season.

Your team and 3881 are listed as being from the same city I am guessing your dots just overlap
