JPG images have EXIF Orientation data in the image file. Sometimes this data is not consistent with how the image is actually stored in the file. Generally it is best if they match. Initially this is set by the camera, then as the image gets uploaded to the web or is cropped by different software that information is lost or ignored.
If you Google EXIF Orientation you will see more information about this issue than anyone would care to know, but it might help clue you in on why your image is sideways and what do to about it. Since I don’t' know exactly how you created the image and got it to CD I can't tell you exactly what is wrong, only about the issue.
One way to get rid of the problem is to save it in some other format or edit it with software that lets you control or remove the EXIF Orientation data.
