It seems like from the picture the length of your wheelbase is perfect for getting stuck right in the middle of the moat. Normally, we just fly over the moat. If we do take it slow, the sideplates' low clearance and angled edges ensure there's always at least one set of wheels in contact with the surface of the moat as the robot dips down and back up over the edges.
