The MOE one was very good, but the best I've seen was when we put both our alliance partners out during quarterfinal match 2 in Canada.
No one hit the stack in auto and then 314 started going slowly up the ramp. The flipped when the stack came tumbling and all hope was lost for the alliance because we won by not a large maring. 783 worked well to knock some stacks over and then went to the ramp and pushed 314 upside down on top of the HDPE. A few sec later, an opposing robot pushed it off and it almost flipped themself when 314 got hooked a little into the mesh. 314 flipped over and the stadium went nuts. They got up top with 783 and bam, game over for their alliance. The vid is Quarterfinal 3.2 in the Canada Videos 2003 link in my profile. No sound (taken on my digital camera) and very shaky cause of all the screaming. I have a VERY good copy on tape that was taken very well on a $1500 camera that zoomed so freaking steady. I'll try to get that up asap. |

I'm going to write about one my team was in simply because I havent seen many that we werent in.
At SVR, we were allied with 115. We had been continually flipping throughout the day, so we werent sure what was going to happen. I dont remember what happened in autonomy, but around 15-30 seconds into the match we started to drive up on a box. We got to a point where we were resting perfectly on the back of our robot at a 90* angle. We asked 115 to come over and push us so that we would be righted again. They drove over, hit us at full speed, and we quite literally flew a few feet. We landed perfectly on the bottom of our robot on top of another box. They hit us again and we finally had our wheels on the floor. We thought we were going to lose, so we went and took out an opposing stack of 2-4(dont remember). We all headed for the ramp at the end. 115 got on, and we were pushing against another team to get on next to them. We were continually on and off the ramp, so we decided to push the other team all the way off to give us enough space to not be touching 115 incase we didnt end up on the ramp. As the clock expired, we came off of the ramp. As we sat there waiting for the scores to be posted, we realized that we were actually hanging over the mesh, balanced on two wheels and part of the opposing alliances robot. We got the 25 points and won by quite a bit...If only we hadnt taken their stack down. I was absolutely amazed after that match Cory |

368 & 492!
the most exciting match of course that ive seen is with our own robot..
i was in the pit most of the time, so i wasnt able to watch any other matches...and the only times i did, i was controller so.. ---------------- as we were up (492, 368) against the soon to be #1 seeded team(233) at seattle, 492 decided to try their Awesome auto mode, in which they go straight back at full speed to take out the opponent's auto i must say, that it worked perfectly, allowing our robot to get up to the top first.(they took out 233) 233;s auto worked awesome in other matches and we were very afraid of their auto interfering with ours.(they take out 3-4 middle stacks) we were then flying around knocking around boxes for quite a while till it came time for the rush to the top 233 and their teammate (i forget sorry) get up on top, and so do we. 492 is fighting another team, and we are about to lose. in the last 5 seconds 492 makes a mad dash up, and somehow makes it ontop of the ramp if u do not know, 492 has 6 wheels... a good part of their robot around...a 4th of their robot is off, and we thought we lost.. the crowd went wild when they saw that the robot was actually still ontop, 2 wheels hanging off, balancing barely on 4 now THAt was awesome.. (i think that match had somthing to do with getting picked by 233 in the finals..) |

in my opinion i would have to say the match with us and 781 against 121 and 188. it was during nationals in the curie division. we decided to go for a zero score strategy and didnt run our auto. 121 and 188 came down the ramp in auto. and 781 and us were still in the starting corners. after the 15 sec. 121 came over and wedged under our robot while 188 was ramming into 781, preventing them from helping us(by the way 781 couldnt go under the bar). 121 was ramming us up against the rail and we couldnt get off of their wedge. we got stuck when they lifted up their pneumatic top thing and we were vertical. we eventually got flipped with about 30ish sec left and then finaly 781 got out of the corner and almost knocked over a 6 stack but couldnt do it. we almost lost drasticaly with a score of about 160 to 8. but 121 got called for intentionaly flipping us and we won with a score of 8 to 0.
good times... i suggest u watch the match at http://www.soap108.com/2003/movies/cur/cur_qf3m2.asf |
