Playing Jenga with construction equipment
Someone at dinner last night mentioned this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWc8dUl7Xfo
Is it wrong that I see that and think "This would make a cool FRC game"? |

Re: Playing Jenga with construction equipment
This video was shown at the NASA Robotics Mining Competition this past week. There are a number of others as well. Pretty cool stuff.
Although stacking games have been done in the past in FRC... Look for threads titled "Worst FRC Games of all time" or something along those lines and you'll probably find the names of these stacking games. |

Re: Playing Jenga with construction equipment
Some of my co-workers actually made this video. They said it was a lot of fun but very very difficult. These guys operate machines for a living and are some of the best in the world and they though it was hard. This seems like a fun game but i do not see this going over well with FRC.

Re: Playing Jenga with construction equipment
As part of team CAT, I'm proud this has caught some people's attention, but it would make for a pretty horrible FRC experience. Jenga (or anything in this vein) would require a lot of precision in the control aspect. That's not just driver experience or capability, that's the mechanical design precision as well as the mechanical/electrical control. Those are difficult problems to solve and are compounded significantly with the precision requirements that a design challenge like this would create.

Re: Playing Jenga with construction equipment
This could make a good game, although it would need to be alot better than Recycle Rush...
The robots would need to be build like bricks, in order to withstand hundreds of pounds of 2x4's falling on them constantly. Then think of field reset... Maby this wouldn't be such a good idea after all.... Last edited by jfish872 : 25-05-2016 at 13:39. Reason: Misspelled word. |
