Your missing the point dude. It's not what they have, it's what they chose to show. They could have easaly shown another photo of a John Doe focussing on a test, but they didn't.

I got your point. I was just pointing out the fact that they don't have any sports teams. I think it's great that they chose to show off their FIRST team, but to say they chose them over another team (not activity or what have you, but team) is not correct. I was trying to show something, though, that their robotics team is their most important thing, over sports or anything else they could be running, but aren't.

Ok then, cool. It sounded like you were downplaying the whole thing by saying thats all they have and they had no other choice. I understand that's not what you meant.

That's amazing. I guess it is different for small schools. But then again, I doubt that the opportunity to work on a farm or one of the MANY (...many many many) mechanic shops in the area shows their face too often in the suburbs So for my school...50% is a lot for college. Hehe. But wow...your grade has more kids than my 7-12 grade HS has students There's probably about 1900 people of any age in our school district

Highlighting Robotics was Newsweek's idea

The choice to highlight robotics was Newsweek's idea. The photographer was sent with explicit instructions to photograph the robotics team. The better half of the day was spent shooting us.

We had an absolute blast educating the photographer and her assistant on FIRST. They were completely enamored with the program the minute they saw the robot and even more so by the end of the day. She even remarked that she would love to have had the chance to participate in a program like this when she was in high school.

I was a bit disappointed Newsweek didn't mention the word "FIRST" in the caption. But nonetheless, I am in agreement this was a superb way to get the word out to schools, parents and students everywhere.

I was even more thrilled that our sponsors, who give so much to us year in and year out, finally had their day in the sun!
