Re: pic: Team 60 Drive Train Parts

I don't think those are cutting wheels, rather parts to a racheting system perhaps.

I'll bet you they are making two identical drive systems - one for the competition bot and one for a practice bots. That's why there are so many duplicates.

Re: pic: Team 60 Drive Train Parts

Judging from the Bionic Poofs (Cheesy Bulldogs?) showing at Cal Games, last September, I don't find it hard to believe that team 60 and 254 are working together, this season. Whatever they'd come up with, I'm sure it'd be awesome.

Well I didn't go to the mechanical workshop at the AZ Kickoff like I wanted to, but they apparently announced their cooperation with 254 during it. If I heard correctly, 60 is making parts a, b and c while 254 is making parts d, e and f... and then they swap. Pretty cool stuff, it could explain why there are so many of each part

I think this is great.
I've also heard this rumor, and I can't wait to see how it works out.

This could be the future of FIRST.

The poof's and kingman designed a drive train during summer together, and they were able to enter that robot into Cal Games at September after that summer. As I remembered it the robot was finished the week before. Definitely a very cool thing to happen. It shows that teams can work together to compliment each other and make each of their robotics program better. Especially with a game of alliances, partnership is definitely a good way to go.

You know you can't build a robot that does everything, unless you build CD's 2000 bot or Beatty's 2001 bot. And even with those robots you need a good partner.

Re: pic: Team 60 Drive Train Parts

That is a lot of gears. I want to see the final product. Please post pictures of it when possible.

Quote:
Strangely I count 60 gears. And that is not counting the "dual gears" (two different sizes in one) separately. And add to that 9 sprockets.
Quote:
I'm pretty sure that there are not 60 gears, however that would be a pretty cool coincidence.
There are indeed 60 gears there. But there are at least 11 sprockets. Why an odd number? Can we not see one of them?
