This is the newest idea from the URI Robotics Club. We plan on shooting and releasing weekly videos from the previous week each wednesday DURING build season. It will be on the same idea of American Chopper or Hot Rod.

wow thats a great idea, its funny b/c I've wanted to do something like that for a while,

I was thinking of something like a competition where teams could compete for the video of the week.. but I like the idea of american robot.

hehe maybe it will spawn a bunch of teams versions.

Better be careful tho lol.. your teamates might get mad that your showing pics of the robot or your strategies before an acceptable time.

I'm head of strategy so it will be controlled. It is going to focus more on the human aspect rather than the robot aspect.

That's a really good idea. It could even borrow aspects from Junkyard Wars, like the time-lapse thing. With a decent webcam mounted in a corner and a PC with lots of HDD space, you could take a pic every 3-5 mins. That would be awesome!

And now when you say that it will focus on the human aspect more than the robot aspect .. why is it called "American Robot"? Just kidding ...

It sounds like a great idea and I hope that it works out swell for your team ... one more thing to do, one more thing to have fun with, I say.

The filming for American Robot is going on as I type this post. I just spoke to my brother (Ricksta121) and he said that the first episode of American Robot will be up this Wednesday night (1/19).

The series will chronicle 121's build season, focusing on the human parts such as collaboration, and will, of course, include a good dose of drama. The first episode will be sort of an introduction to the team - our members, the space we work in, and the group dynamics. It should be very entertaining and fun.
