Re: pic: Not your typical chassis (team 820)

Good Guess. Our bot's a pure-bread killough and the shape gives it away, but when it's on the ground you can't see the wheels, which will hopefully suprise some people.

Pure bread? As opposed to a half-breed with 4 wheels I assume? We will just have to see who the half-breed is....

That looks really cool, and it does look like some of the old battle bots. how thick is the sheet metal?

Re: pic: Not your typical chassis (team 820)

The sheet metal is aluminum about an 1/8" thick I think. We made a lot of bends and cuts to fasten it all together into a very strong shape. We were thinking of using lexan, but weren't too sure how strong it would be for side panels.

Re: pic: Not your typical chassis (team 820)

Ahh, another beautiful killough drive system, I always wanted to build one- are you guys using three joysticks like 857 did or is there some mad programming going on?

Re: pic: Not your typical chassis (team 820)

There is some MAAAAAD programming going on. Our programmers are excellent and they have a neat configuration for steering our robot. The only problem they have now is accounting for weight distribution based on where our arm is. We don't have sensors so this might be kind of tricky for them.
