girls: what's the lamest pickup line u've got from a guy at robotics comp?

We were handing out doughnuts at Phoenix and me and my friend Katie went to the Canadian team. This one guy got the last one, and I asked him if he wanted the box (people wanted the boxes) and he said ,"No, but your number would help!" I told him I was taken, and Katie just burst out laughing!

^that was an interesting one. But seriously, pickup lines can be funny and cute if done right...but just walking up to a girl and talking to her is an awesome way to get to know somebody. Guys, don't be scared to talk to a girl because shes going to talk back most of the time. and if she doesn't...then when are you ever going to see her again?

If your going to West Michigan regional or atlanta, then you can come talk to me if you want to so at least thats one girl you can talk to without being afraid!

I successfully made it past the Pacific Northwest Regional without being approached by any guy... Phew! Next up is the Davis-Sacramento Regional, and I hope that no one tries to flirt with me (like last year) again. At least one of my teammates will be crossdressing there; I can't wait to see what happens! ^_^

Well...this wasn't really a pick up line...but it was funny.

A friend of mine were walking around in the Pit Area at the Nats. last year -- a guy [I think he was his team's mascot...] approached my friend and I and said something like 'wanna give a dog a hug??' or something to that liking...it was funny, and pretty cute so we were like 'aww' and hugged him. We got a good laugh out of it...but it was pretty cute.

Haven't really had anyone else approach me...kinda hard because I'm almost always in my team's pit area...OR...maybe they're just...scared, because I'm one of the two girls on my robotics build team...

I agree with prettycolors91 -- pickup lines can be cute if done the right way. AND the best way to approach a girl IS to just talk to her. Especially the ones in robotics -- they're way cooler [and nicer...] than the other girls! I'm pretty easy going and wouldn't go run to one of the guys on the team if a guy were to approach me.

heh pickup lines are funny and even tho they are pointless and puerile often both parties involved get a laugh.

Well, I can't say I've ever had a pick-up line used on me, but I've had plenty of looks and eyes made at me during competitions. Then again, maybe those looks were because they boys thought I was crazy. This little 5 foot 1 inch girl running around with pink and lime green hair, yelling and screaming and dancing to music with tools hanging out of every pocket...it gets some strange looks.

Anyway, I will say that my first boyfriend got me into robotics. He hated it, I loved it. He quit before the end of his first year and I said bye bye to him and stuck around robotics. My second boyfriend was a product of robotics, and when I told him to get lost, he seemed to lose his love of robotics. It was around that time that I had two dating offers from other boys on my team. I turned them both down, and third time being the charm, accepted my third offer. He's still my boyfriend today, over a year later, and we are happy together, and he even mentors for my team while I run it as president.

Guess you could say I just can't get enough of robotics, and the robo boys can't get enough of me! I find it all amusing.

I don't think I permanently damaged any of the boys on my team...but a few of them did require some small tweeks in their programming so I could keep them away from me long enough to get my work done.

It's great to be a FIRST girl!

I love this thread. My first regional (LSR) started thurs and im a rookie and I know what to say and what not due to this thread... Anyways I started with, "Hey, im Pavan, Welcome to LoneStar, What's your name?"....Says name..."Would you like to go...?" and as soon as i was gonna say "...catch a match?" some guy from another team came up and I was bummed until I saw my team's bot perform with some frineds of mine.
