I may be looking at this from a different angle, but bear with me. Every team has a standard for maintaining relationship issues - it takes time to build up or break down such a standard, because it is built both out of habit and out of general interests.
You can protest to the school board all you want, but I will warn you now that one of the biggest challenges you will face is attitudes. Rules can be rewritten, problems can be fixed, but peoples' feelings are far from inanimate - they need more consideration than just being "corrected". - Genia
