Re: pic: VEX biped

I love your variation on this Biped design! Simple yet very effective. Based on the picture, it looks like the center of mass of approaching going outside the center of gravity. Do you have tipping problems with this design?
I also love the look of the Vex control's battery and status lights. It makes it look like this thing actually has eyes. Great picture!

It's actually suprisingly stable. It can take 2-3 inch steps without risk of falling over, but because it is such a simple design the feet are not always parallel to the ground and it walks in a jerky motion when switching feet. I have some thoughts about a different design that would get rid of this problem, but as it is right now it works fine. Also, when I was testing with it earlier today I was able to get it to turn (relatively) on the spot, so it is actually pretty capable.

Right now we move each motor/servo individually with the controller to make it walk, but my brother will probably make a program for it pretty soon. Maybe then we can put up a nice movie of it walking around.

Re: pic: VEX biped

Sweet. I built a Lego Biped about 5 years ago which used pretty much the exact same method to walk. I don't have any pictures, but I do have a video laying around somewhere of it in action. Maybe I'll finally figure out how to use YouTube and upload it some time. Nice work with the Vex. Keep it up.

Re: pic: VEX biped

well, I programmed it and it kinda works but it is also kinda flaky so I'll have to go fix it sometime. Then we can put up a video of it in action!
