Re: How far are you on your robot?

Compared to last year we are WAY ahead of schedule. It's a wonderful feeling. We had a driving chassis earlier this week, but the Banebots transmissions have been giving us a bit of grief (Who hasn't been getting grief from those transmissions?). So we had to fix those today.

Out of the years I've been on the team we haven't had much time for any software integration after the robot was done built. 2005 we finished the bot, stuffed it in the crate and that was it. The integration took place at our first competition. 2006 we finished the bot and attempted to got some software integration done, but the electrical box had some problems. Some victors were broken and the fact that it was a box made the matter far worse. It was a pain to get your hands in and out, let alone a screw driver to replace that victor.

So... last year was the preparation for a major step in this team. So many things went wrong and we learned so much. We changed the design process, we have a good schedule that everyone knows about, we strayed away from having an electrical box. Now it's all nice, neat and easy to see.

You really can't have a bad year. The only way you can is to come out of it and not learn anything.

Re: How far are you on your robot?

we are merely on schedule. this is still a big acomplishment though, because this year we set aside an unprecidented 2 weeks at the end for programing/practice. the last time we even had a week of spare time was 4 years ago, so scheduling for 2 weeks of time, and looking like we will make it is pretty nice.

Re: How far are you on your robot?

Like many Central and North Texas, Oklahoma teams, the Icy weather shut down school for two plus days and was a real momentum stopper. I think we may be gaining some ground that was lost but on the positive side the the programming team is very much ahead of past season's work. They are using the 2005 robot which will be of the same drive type and it has a camera mounted and being tested on a complete rack system. So some pluses and and some minuses and such is life working with teenagers

Re: How far are you on your robot?

We are behind. I just finished the bare chassis tonight, and we will spend all of tomorrow bolting on stuff (baseplate, motors, electronics, etc). We were anticipating having the bare chassis done by the beginning of the third week....leaving the 4th and 5th for the manipulators, and the 6th for programming, testing, etc. Hopefully the chassis will be done 100% by Wednesday....which means another late weekend in the shop this upcoming week...

Re: How far are you on your robot?

We've got the chassis done with the stationary portion of our arm tower and the robot part of our ramps on as well. Wheels, sprockets, and transmissions are mounted along with the wood for the electronics board, and programming has working drive code as well as having proved most of the sensors we're using will work. Parts of our arm are done as well, just not assembled.

This week we want the chassis to be drivable and enough of a control board to control it; also most (or all) of our arm should be attached, and on programming I hope to finish both our automatic and manual arm control code. Of course we'll see how mcuh our hopes line up with what actually happens.

Re: How far are you on your robot?

We're just under half done. Practice bot should be done midweek according to the mentors, and metal cut for the real deal next weekend. We are pretty close to schedule.

Re: How far are you on your robot?

Due to a few glitches in how we were expecting things to run we are behind schedule. Hopefully we will be able to double the number of meetings and get back on schedule.

Re: How far are you on your robot?

Well I don't know if my team is behind or on schedule but were just getting to build the electronics board and cutting the frame. Although we have ordered most of the important supply's we need such as wheels and game pads to control the robot with. Because our team grew larger since last year I think we'll get things done quickly though.

Re: How far are you on your robot?

we are a little bit behind schedule, but not by much, maybe a day or two, we should have the chassis 100% complete tomorrow morning, and driving. then we can get the tower set up and the end effector built, I hope we can finish lol

Re: How far are you on your robot?

We are somewhat on schedule (ahead of where we were in 2005 but behind where we were last year). The real issue is going to be weight...
