It's kind of funny how people have associated what we call the "flop" with our team. We only did this for 2 years of the 10 or so that we've been building robots, and those two machines couldn't have been more different drivetrain wise.
Don't you consider the 2000 robot a flopper? It wasn't a perma-flop bot, but it definitely flopped....as did Beatty. Both of which were the first of their kind that I can recall.

The new one looks great by the way.

Yeah, 2000 was technically a flopper too, but we only did that in a handfull of matches, where the 04 and 05 bots had to flop to start.

There haven't been too many flopper bots in the game, but I know of two of them that were on national championship aliances. Ours in '05, and Beatty's in... I believe that was '03. You know the one that grabbed all 3 goals and then used file cards on it's slow march across the field.

Right game, wrong year as well. Their flopbot was 2002, the year of Zone Zeal. (Partial credit, however; Beatty did also win the Championship in 2001, just not with a flopbot.)

First of their kind as in the first flopbots? I'm not sure if there were any flopbots from before 2000, but I know more than just 67 and 71 flopped in 2000 (116 also did, among several others).
