I totally agree! Where were all these safety nazi's when my generation was coming up, we rode bikes without helmets, sometimes even without brakes!
We played outside in hot weather without sun screen.
We got bumps and bruises but we learned to be more careful and to toughen up. Oh... and lets not forget building tree forts and play dodge ball!
