Re: pic: New 3D Printer New WhoAmI.
They're even better than two rings printed intersecting, the are two ball bearings printed intersecting!

Re: pic: New 3D Printer New WhoAmI.
The Dimension BST 768 (white) or the SST 1200es (silver)?
The 1200es was introduced to the market in Feb. 08! I call it the "Extra Special" model. I guess ES stands for "Extra Strong material". The ABS models it produces are about 40% stronger than models produced on other Dimension 3D printers except for the Elite. Here is the spec page for it if any one is interested: http://dimensionprinting.com/3d-prin...200series.aspx Those bearings took about 4.5 hours to print and 5+ hours to dissolve the support material. It used $7.5 worth of model material and $4.5 worth of scrap support material. If anyone has any crazy 3D files out there that they would like to see printed email the .stl file to printo3d@printo3d.com and let me know why you are sending it. Maybe I will just decide to print it someday and make a video about it. ![]() |

Re: pic: New 3D Printer New WhoAmI.
I printed a ball inside of a ball inside a ball with the one we have at school. It a cool machine.
Has the solution gotten any less dangerous? The main reason we don't use the SST machine is that the solution to dissolve the support material in was pretty caustic. One of the lab techs got some very mild chemical burns on his hands from it. |

I got sick of the time consuming BST removal and wounds from the removal process .The SST addition was a great purchasing decision. Some parts are just not possible to remove BST supports from. With the BST it is also very easy to break fine details off in the support removal process. I see quite a few crazy things and spending hours of my time after work removing supports was just not fun anymore. ![]() Quote:
