Thanks to HOT Team 67 for forming the Hot Wings Express!

I would like to say thanks to Team 67 HOT for picking us to take on the tough characters that were competing in Detroit at Wayne State University this weekend. Adam and Jim and the rest of the HOT crew led us through some great matches!

Adam, your confidence in how to make our strategy work was what we needed - you have an incredible team, and watching you all work together and succeed under pressure made it easier to understand why HOT is always so good - what a team. Amazing.

To the EXPRESS! - it was a blast working with you. Over the weekend our scouts got tired of me talking about how you guys play your game. I have been a fan of 1023 since your beginings, and it was cool to be with your team to the finish!

Congrats to the 27, 201, 1 alliance for playing through a tough field and for creatively helping us discover our "side hang."

Thanks to the volunteers at WSU who did their best to put on the show. Your hard work made it possible for the rest of us to have a great event.

It felt like old home week with so many alumni and friends in the building.

To the people in purple - I am so proud of what you have accomplished as individuals and as a team!

Ken

Good job to you all. Put up a good fight in the first Semis match, but you guys were too much in that second match. Good luck to all at your upcoming events!

Talking Re: Thanks to HOT Team 67 for forming the Hot Wings Express!

On behalf of the HOT Team, I would like to thank teams 51 and 1023 for their help winning the Detroit district.

Ken, it’s always great coaching with a legend. Any time all three team are playing to their greatest strengths, good things are going to happen.

Wings of Fire, I know you have all worked so hard to combine the two team’s cultures, you should all be proud of your robot and your performance this weekend.

Bedford Express, I am surprised this was your first regional/district win. Congratulations, you have a great robot and your amazing defense was the key to our success.

To Rush, FEDs, and Juggernauts you guys were extremely strong, I knew it was going to be really tough to defeat your alliance. You guys executed an incredible strategy to defend our alliance.

To all the HOT team, I am really proud of all the hard work and dedication that was shown this weekend. We had mechanical, electrical, controls, and Classmate issues this weekend….usually at the most inopportune times. Thank you for all the hard work, to provide us with a robot that performed flawlessly on the field.

EDIT: HOT WING EXPRESS might be the greatest alliance name of all time. I was never a fan of combining team's names together....but this one really fits my tastes.

Re: Thanks to HOT Team 67 for forming the Hot Wings Express!

On behalf of BX, I would like to second Hannah's thoughts! We were so thrilled to be asked to join this alliance. GO HOT WINGS EXPRESS!!

Team 67 - You are a legend. We thank you for believing in us when our rankings didn't back it! We came to Detroit with what we thought was a top bot, but found out that globe motors were illegal (Don't know how we missed that) so we spent all of Thursday trying to switch to FP motors - which of course we didn't bring because we weren't using. We spent Friday morning finishing a new gear box. We spent most of Friday trying to get our conveyor belts working again. We were so thrilled to hear you call our number! It was an honor standing beside you! Congratulations for your victory and thank you for helping us win our first banner!!!!

Team 51 - The HB and CD have always been two of our favorite teams. We felt your pain in giving up your names and were SO excited to see you in Detroit and hear how you have successfully combined your teams. We are so proud of you for overcoming circumstances and making a new name for yourselves! You all have so much to be proud of! Congratulations to you all!!!!

Team 1023 - I am so proud of you for overcoming the obstacles we faced and remaining positive and committed to our team and bot! Congratulations team!

To all of the teams at Detroit - 1023 enjoyed another fantastic FIRST experience with you all. We are thankful for all of you that stepped up to help us, stopped by to talk with us and for the kind words an encouragement throughout the whole competition! FIRST ROCKS!

Thanks to all of the volunteers, judges and coordinators and to FIM for making this another amazing competition. Looking forward to TROY and FRANTICALLY trying to earn $4,000 for states. Anyone have any great ideas for earning quick cash??? Please share with me if you do!

Re: Thanks to HOT Team 67 for forming the Hot Wings Express!

Debbie, you've got a great story to tell. Make some small portfolios of pictures of your bot and team, the Detroit Freep article and have kids take it to every business around asking for any help for the 4K. Bet you get it in one day. Good luck!

Thanks! We will definitely be hitting up as many as we can! Our top priority is Troy! We have 6 hours to squeeze in this week for that! Anyone have a few spare hours that we can add to our day?

Hek~~Thanks! We think Rush is awesome and you all did such a great job too! Congrats on all you accomplished this weekend!

Re: Thanks to HOT Team 67 for forming the Hot Wings Express!

I came Saturday just in time for the eliminations to start, and I must say; Wayne State was an impressive event. 51 and 67 were highly complementary, 67 was putting balls into the goals as fast as 51 could redeploy them and the cheering was deafening. Not to mention that 1023 made an excellent contribution to your alliance, and you had stiff competition from 27, 201, and 1. It was practically a nail biter and was quite enjoyable to watch. Congratulations on your win, you've earned it.

Re: Thanks to HOT Team 67 for forming the Hot Wings Express!

It was really fun working with all of you guys, and I'm glad that Ken from Wings of Fire was a fan of ours, I don't know if we would've gotten on an alliance if it weren't for you. I feel that we became deceptively low-ranked. The HOT Team were really good on offense, and Wings of Fire had one of the most useful and creative designs in the whole competition. By the way, I'm from team 1023, Bedford Express.

I remember there was another 67 based alliance name like that, when 910 selected 67 at Kettering Kickoff 2008, and the pair then chose 1075, to later be replaced by 2619. I think it was like Frozen Fire or something... Anyone remember?

FREEZER BURN!!

Yeah, us and 910 liked to team up a lot for off-season competitions (Kettering and MARC '08, MARC '09) but didn't get to team up in an official FIRST event until Kettering this year. Some of us tried to incorporate some double-headed Martians into the Freezer Burn name, with varied success.
