Snap rings are the best! They weigh nothing and are easy and quick to install.

I've seen Delrin, HDPE, and nylon guides successfully used in this application before.

I plan on replacing the front face of the gearbox with a plate that has all the holes and extends off and inch and a half to the left and right of the box. Four aluminum spacers will run from the plate to the 80/20, 1/4"-20 bolts will go through them and screw into t nuts in the 80/20 t slot profile. However I am somewhat concerned that if someone hits the center wheel it could cause the SS to move out of place. I haven't really worked much with 80/20 before, so I don't know if that is a legitimate concern.
