Hacking The Segway

I have talked to about 10 people from Segway about the security and encryption on the machine. I FINALY got some info out of a Friendly Engineer that works there.

See if you see the same security holes I do!

1. The Machine has 64bit encyption
2. If you try to upload any data onto it, it earases itself
3. You need a "Intelegent Key" to start the machine (64bit encypted)
4. The memory is re-programable (by SEGWAY LCC, or so they say)

Hmmmm.....
I am thinking a couple hours.

Purpose?

Just wondering....but what would be the purpose of hacking into a Segway?

What's the point of uploading data to it? If you erase the data u defeat the purpose of the machine and it's probably something that a person could not reprogram and get right....

This is the kind of crap that sometimes gives the ChiefDelphi Forums a bad name (in a few people's eyes).

Don't post this kind of drivel in here. Believe it or not, many people read many of these posts and get much from the well-though discussions which happen here. The more of the above trash is posted, the less people will pay attention to this forum.

By the way, nothing personal... just straighten it up.

don't you think you are kinda being hard on him? i think he was just joking around. I doubt anyone would actually steal a segway to reprogram it or have the means to reprogram it. Also, this is a user suported board, made mostly of students, where anyone can join. If Chiefdelphi is woried about their image they can restrict who joins and restrict posts, but they haven't done that. I don't think it is a problem and most posts on this board are not offensive or ignorant. Read the privacy statement at the bottom of the page.

The ideas and information expressed on the ChiefDelphi Forums may or may not necessarily be the official view of ChiefDelphi or the FIRST Organization.

You also said that other people think of chiefdelphi in a bad light. Who are these people and why do you care what they think? Be your own person and don't hold your tounge because someone may not like what you have to say. Im not saying insulting people and being vulgar, im just saying freedom of speech.

My $.02

Dude, The only reason I have this forum up is to see IF there is a way to hack it. IF there is, then lets contact Segway. I see people from segway day-in-day-out.

Exactly.

I stand by what I wrote.

I've been posting on here since these Forums started. I don't often come out and say that people need to straighten up. However, when people go to efforts in order to steal and hack things, some of us old codgers often step in a say a few things.

When I see a post from someone like Andy or Joe Johnson I take it like it came from the FIRST God... (there must be one ). Listen to Andy, he knows his stuff when it comes to CD, FIRST and etiquette in general.

P.S. Please don't steal mine. I'm paying good money for it.

Steve,

Thank you for the kind words. Believe it or not, I am often a doofus and make some mistakes too.

There is nothing really wrong in hacking stuff. I see it all the time. What he said about stealing segaways and the other things is dumb but hey there is nothing wrong with hacking your stuff.

And what type of theive are we talking about? Ones smart enough that they could probably buy a segway in the same amount of time it takes for them to steal it. Its just too hard.
