Having the Chairman's Award on a VCD

VCD or video CD is a regular CD-R that uses the MPEG-1 format to play CD'S. Most VCD's are playable with DVD's, Mac's, PC's, Playstation 1 & 2, etc. Typically web sites say that it can store about an hour worth of good footage. But to get good almost DVD quality video with almost DVD sound, you can store about 30 minutes. The presentations would not last more than 20 min, so this would be good.
VCD's are cheap. I found that you can buy movie's at VHS prices or even bellow that.
And this would be a good format for the Chairman's Award and the Animation. Something better than VHS, but without the high prices of making a DVD-R.

A lot of people these days have CD-Burners (either externally or came with their computer). And you can get a 1.2 gig cd in a package of 5 for like $5. Compare to the $10-$20 for a 4.7 Gig DVD-R.

Now I am having finding software. The only good piece of software I found is Roxio's Toast 5. At first I thougt you can just make an MPEG-1 movie clip, from Quicktime Pro and burn it onto CD. But for some reason it is in a .DAT format. If any one knows of any good software, can you let me know.

Maybe this can be a topic at the team's forumn in Auguest. As a lot of teams were complanning about the limits of VHS and how it degrated their animation and chairman's award. And the expensive equipment that someone has to use to transfer an animation or chairman's award into a VHS or S-VHS

1.2 gig cd!? If this does exist, I would like to know some more information about it: Where it can be purchased, the date on which it was released, etc..

I personally like Nero Burning Rom 5.5.

1.2 gig CD-R & VCD

Yes, you usually only find a 600 megabyte (70 or 80 minutes) or single sided CD. But there are also Double sided CD-R of 1.2 gig. I remember seeing the double sided CD-R @ Office Max or Staples, something like that. It was a FujiFilm, I think, a generic brand of CD-R that was a 5 pack for 4.99 + Tax.

Are there any more pieces of good software out there to make VCD's? But after looking at Nero Burning, it kind of looks good. I just wish a simpler app like iDVD could be used to make video cd's.

I knew about the double sided CDs, but the manner in which I read your post lead me to believe that there was a regular CD of that size. "My bad," I guess...
