Not sure if it's too long, but here's my favorite quote about FIRST:
“There is no altruism involved in this at all. I know what missions NASA is going to fly in the next 20 years. I know what sort of expertise is required to build the next generation of Sojourner. I need those people... If I can get 1,000 students a year through the FIRST program excited about science, technology and engineering, even if 95 percent of them never go through to a Ph.D. program in robotics engineering, that is still 50 robotics Ph.D.’s I can hire.” -David Lavery NASA’s Program Executive for Solar and Planetary Exploration Matt |

Some quotes from Dean Kamen:
"It's easy to be a bystander" "...let them understand what power there is in knowledge, what power there is when you're creative..." ~Dean Kamen at 1997 FIRST Kickoff (i stole the 2nd one from Kate's email signature ) |

Well, Dave Lavery is a great man! And he says some very true and wonderful things. I have grown very fond of Woodie's quote "Set screws in hale audibly." Oh well, simple minds, simple pleasures.

This one is on my wall...
And happens to be my fave...
"Science is about why, engineering is about why not" -Dean Kamen I forget where it comes from. I think the wired interview, but I could be mistaken. Anyways, good luck on yer quote quest. -Robby O FIRSTanimators Moderator oshortwan@hotmail.com |

"FIRST. It took 4 years out of my life. I spent six sleepless weeks designing, building, wiring, and programming a sport's machine. For a while, I had no life. I was secluded from the outside world; no friends or family. I was going crazy.
Thanks." |

Then you got to go to go to competitions and were envied by the kids who didn't give up some time. Who cares if you have to make up work, you got to have fun, right. Those six weeks really pay off and give you a really great life in the end.
