Re: 2017 Greater Pittsburgh Regional

Always a great time at our home regional!

I know that the field reset has been extremely slow this year, any thoughts as to how it might be at Pittsburgh? Last year they were impressively efficient (compared to earlier events).

Re: 2017 Greater Pittsburgh Regional

I volunteered to be field reset crew last year, and it amazed me at how fast we were able to replace the obstacles - probably because there were 5 or 6 students doing each side at any time. This year, I think with the use of the ball sweeps and enough manpower, we could still do field reset a bit faster than other events. It's always one of our goals to be as fast as possible.

I'm looking forward to 4050's photo booth at the competition We're setting up a Snapchat filter for the competition, so it should be really fun for everyone.

Hands down the best Regional we go to. Always a very fun and competitive one. If you are going there and want to chat strategy or robotics, stop by the 5740 pit Thursday afternoon, ask for Matt. Can't wait to see everyone's design!

Quasics is looking forward to our 10th Anniversary event this week! It's hard to believe it's been that long since our rookie team took on FIRST Overdrive back in 2008. We're also looking forward to the expansion of our multi-team Scouting program! This season 2656 will again be working with 4150 (FRobotics) and welcoming 3260 (SHARP) to the Alliance! "You can Scout with us!"

The Beak Squad can't wait to come join yinz!

It will be our first time at GPR, any pro-tips for first time attendees?

There is not much to eat (if anything) around the competition center. I would pack lunch or buy from concession stand. Expensive though.

It's sort of annoying to get from pits to stands so be prepared for a lot of walking. Pits are good in size. Practice field is okay depending on what parts they have.

Good luck! We have only been one year but it's a great regional. They have a stellar reputation for good field reset times too

As he stated food is at a premium at the Convention center and is expensive. As for local food locations within in walking/driving distance +/- 10 mins walking distance I will link those places in a future post (as I am on my phone at a work class). Yes put on your walking shoes as getting from the pits to the stands is a little of a hassle but everything is marked.

Re: 2017 Greater Pittsburgh Regional

It's lightly snowing here (Murrysville) right now, however, it's expected to get warmer later this week. We definitely won't get as much snow as MAR.
