Issues installing robotpy-cscore

I am trying to integrate the Python version of cscore into our vision code to publish a CameraStream to the SmartDashboard, and I am running into issues installing it on a developer laptop.

I have used the robotpy-installer download-opkg python36-robotpy-cscore and it is running fine, and installs everything into an opkg-cache folder.

I opened up the Python terminal to see if the install worked and found the following problem:

>>> import cscore
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module>
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'cscore'

Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Any help would be much appreciated!

For more information on our vision code, see our GitHub repo here.

Re: Issues installing robotpy-cscore

Did you run
Code:
robotpy-installer install-opkg python36-robotpy-cscore
while connected to the robot network? That will actually install the package on your rio.

Are you trying to install cscore on your laptop? AFAIK that won't work, as it's a rio specific package.

Got it!

Thanks for your quick answer! After looking over the website again, I see the mistake I made.

You actually can install cscore on your laptop (though, with pip, not with the download-opkg method), as long as you have opencv + pybind11 installed. The one caveat is that it isn't actually useful on OSX or Windows, as it doesn't have the ability to talk to USB cameras on those platforms.
