Pit Question

Our team is working on designing a new pit sturcture to put in our pit. Usually in the manual there is a section stating the size of the pits. What is the height allowed for pits this year?

10'x10'x10' are the max dimensions. So max height is 10 feet.

Re: Pit Question

Some events have smaller spaces the 10 X 10. Last year Hub City was 9 wide and 10 deep. Make your pit adjustable.

Keep in mind some events will limit you to smaller sizes by length and width, though.

Re: Pit Question

We have a 2" pipe pvc pit that has two "levels" that deconstruct vertically and bars that go around the sides, back, and along the top of the front to allow for hanging our banner. I think it's built at 9' x 9' (or 9.5' x 9.5'?) in case of size restrictions from events. We usually just use that extra space to make sure we aren't trying to run our power cords through other pits.

If you are from MI, most of the district events take place in High Schools, due to limited space, pits are 8'x10'. Height is open gym ceiling. So if you are building frame make something that has adjustable width between 7.75' to 10'

Re: Pit Question

We have one event where pit space is 10D x 8W. We had to do some quick changes last year.

When it does't pinch, we don't pay attention, I guess. May be Troy, what about Southfield, Howell? It may have changed for better now, this was a word of caution.

Re: Pit Question

If your region's website is anything like Michigan's you should be able to find your competition and go to the 'event information' tag, and they'll mention any pit restrictions they have in place.

If not, you can always email the event coordinator and ask.

Good luck!
