Thumbs up FRC Game Calculation Interface 2018 Edition

Hello Everyone!

I am from FRC Team 156, and over the summer, I decided to create a small project to easily determine distances across the competition field. As this project developed, it naturally escalated into what it is today.

Currently, the program supports:
  • Measuring field distances (with some degree of accuracy (not perfect))
  • Planning alliance routes before matches at competitions
  • Measuring turn angles in degrees
  • Calculating ideal and estimated robot travel times (Estimated Time = 1.2*Ideal+4*(distance(inches)/600inches))
  • Outputting steps to be programmed during the autonomous period
  • Outputting python scripts for a robot to travel across an elliptical path (outputs the ideal gyroscopic heading from start of turn)
  • Scouting data from The Blue Alliance, determining averages, and conditionally formatting an excel document for teams to use to compare teams for alliance selection.

Here are some images of what the program can do:
Robot Field Mapping and Distance Measurement
Multiple Alliance Robot Strategy Planning
Autonomous Step and Script Sample Outputs
Scouting Utility Main Page
Scouting Utility Results Pittsburgh 2017

If you would like to try out this program for yourself, please feel free to download it at the link below:
FRC Game Calculator Interface 2018 Edition

Also, if you notice any bugs or inaccuracies within the program, please notify me at the email address provided in the Contacts section of the program, and I will hopefully release a patch within a short period of time.

Good Luck with the 2018 Season Everyone!

This is a lot of fun to play around with! Thanks for sharing it! We just had our big autonomous routine discussion yesterday. This will be useful in helping us validate our discussions and get some estimates on timing.

Oh, sorry. I forgot to transfer the original README file into the program, but I can explain how to use it here.

To use the program you must be using a 64-bit Windows computer. It will eventually be ported as a project on GitHub, but that will not be for a week or more at the earliest. Once downloaded, you can use an unzipping program to uncompress the files (this step is not necessary as you can run the program within the .rar directory.)

To run the program itself, simply run the executable file titled "FRC_Game_Calculator_Index.exe" and the controls for the Field page are located within the "Controls" tab on the main menu. I also forgot to note the key "M" which creates a model robot on your screen to see how the sizes interact with your robot dimensions, and you can rotate this with the arrow keys and shift to speed it up.

Thanks for your interest in the program!

I'm glad you enjoy the program! If you notice any bugs, feel free to tell me so that I can hopefully patch it quickly to keep the results as reliable as possible! Good luck this year!

This is pretty sweet, thanks.

It works for me on Windows 10.

I'm not sure what is happening on your end either. Are you sure it is not opened anywhere else from beforehand which would stop it from unpacking properly?

One thing you may want to try could be going to Options->Settings->Viewer on WinRar itself and checking if *.exe exists within the "Unpack everything for" list. If it does exist there, try to add *.* to the end of the list and see if that resolves the problem.

Options->Settings
Viewer Normal Screen
View with *.*

Do you by any chance have another computer that you can try to run the program on? I'm having trouble figuring out what is going on as it has never happened to me on the numerous computers I've tested it on.
