The LA Aqueduct is still there coming down from the Owens Valley. (You can see the last portion to the east of I-5 as you drive up to Santa Clarita.) This is still LADWP's largest source.

Which "state" would Inyo County be in?

Those areas generally run the state the way it currently is. It's the folks living in "Jefferson" and what's left of the GOP in Orange County who want to split the state.

The map shows Inyo and Mono counties in Southern California.

I haven't lived in CA since the 80s. Back then I worked in aerospace and lived in Hermosa Beach. My favorite part of the state for hiking was, and still is, the eastern Sierra in those two counties.

Californians of any political persuasion are under-represented in our federal government.

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

Unfortunately, if California was better represented, I think civility would be worse represented, given some of the local politicians...

Personally, if someone wanted to split the state up, they're wasting time on the political maneuvers. Just gotta figure out how to wake up San Andreas along its entire length, the state'll split no problem.

Excellent point! And when that happens Stockton, Modesto, Merced, Madera, Fresno, Visalia, and Bakersfield will all become beach towns!

Interstate 5 will be just as desolate as it is now, but underwater.

So basically what you're saying is that we have to wait until then for a water game.

Oddly enough - I’m qualified to respond to this. USGS says the area is overdue for a massive earthquake. It’s greater than 99% chance of it occurring at this point.

Source: advised a client about data center operations redundancy risk in that location once.

Re: CA Districts?

I love how people are doing their best to insert facts and data into a discussion about a double fantasy: districts model competition in a voter approved split up California.

Another thing to consider is that the presenting sponsor for Champs is headquartered in San Diego. So we would get a water game but no champs.
