I expect the top tier (234, 1501, 1024, 71, 135, and arguably several other teams) to score plenty of cubes in Indiana this year, and given how strong Indiana has been getting since districts, I expect many other teams to be close behind: to name a few, 292, 461, 829, 868, 1720, 1741, 1747, 3147, 3494, 3940, 4103, and 4982.

There are several teams that "jumped onto the scene" and performed quite well last year: 1018, 4272, 4485, 4926, and 6498. We'll have to see if these teams can keep their steam (er, gears) rolling.

From what I've seen/heard personally, the following teams are likely going to be contenders:
461 - Hopefully this year might be their year. Westside found a new shop space this year and things are looking up for them, as well as their scale robot.
5484 - If you keep track of CD often, you'll see they've been posting a lot recently. This young team has grown a lot since their rookie year, and I expect they'll try to find some more banners this year.
6956 - They may be rookies, but don't expect them to act like it. With the help of Danny Blau, Sham-rock-botics has already shown promise in offseason events, and they will likely make a striking rookie appearance.

As for general Indiana predictions....

I predict that every Indiana event will see at least 1 of the top 2 scale robots in the finals. We'll see who they are.

I predict that climbs will be the difference between a winning alliance and a finalist alliance in at least one event.

I predict that every event will have a winner with fewer than 2 blue banners up to that point.

Re: FRC Indiana 2018

My personal picks for sleepers this year has got to be 3940 and 5484. While both teams have been good in the past, last year seemed to be rough for them both with both teams going for bold strategies of doing it all or mastering fuel. While both were successful to a degree, what Iíve seen of both teams so far makes them seem like good candidates for teams to watch out for. I think both have done phenomenal work so far and are looking great doing it! Iím looking forward to seeing every team compete but Iím most excited for them. I could even see a blue banner in their futures.

Best of luck to all teams! Remember, do your best and play the game how you play. Teams that play well may not rank the best, but can do a lot come elims.**

**Iím looking at 1018 at Tippecanoe last year. Ranked low because of match gods, first pick of the 3rd alliance, won their first blue banner.

We're shooting for the moon this year. Hopefully we can pull it off, or get close to it.

Here's a preview of something new we're trying. All the inspiration goes to 2767 Stryke Force for sharing their CAD, answering questions and generally being awesome.

Re: FRC Indiana 2018

Okay, I have some questions I'd like to discuss.

1.) What's the best thing about Indiana in 2018 going to be? (Could be a robot, a match, competitiveness, a meme, etc. I just wanna know what Indiana is gonna be "known" for this year.)

2.) Will a Michigan team win Mishawaka?

3.) What will the breakage percent be at any given event?

4.) Who will be the highest ranked rookie or 2nd year team?

1.) For some reason, I have an inkling that Indiana will be known as some of the best scale-capable robots this year. It seems that every year, Indiana excels in having numerous teams that are capable of doing the hardest task of the year, and this year it would clearly be the scale. I'm sure many of the perennially great teams like 234, 135, 1024, 1501, etc. will be doing so along with a lot of fringe teams tha tseem to do well frequently.

2.) There is a lot of really strong teams that are partaking this year from Michigan in Mishawaka, but for some reason I can't get myself to believe that Indiana can't handle the competition . Clearly teams like Frog Force and the COMETS will be tough to handle, but there is a number of outstanding Indiana teams attending the event as well.

3.) Mishawaka- 70%, Plainfield- 70%, Tippy- 90%, DCMP- 95% (Yeah I know I have high hopes)

4.) I'm not sure why yet, but Shamrock Robotics has left a pretty strong impression on me, as well as a lot of recent changes in the works, 6956 could do big things. I won't predict a district event win quite yet, but I'd say a run to the World Championship is in the works.

Interesting,I came to the exact opposite conclusion after watching our state compete for the past few years. Hopefully I'm wrong but based on last year I don't have high expectations for our scale robots.
