Re: Cow Town ThrowDown - Oct 28-29

LASER 3284 had a great experience at the CTTD event as always. We want to thank Team Driven 1730, Cerner, and all of the event volunteers for a quality event. Congratulations to the championship alliance winners (1986, 1987, 4329, 5006).
We would also like to recognize our awesome alliance partners 525 Swartdogs, 1094 Channel Cats, and Team 1108 Panther Robotics for their GP and contributions in those exciting finals matches.
Thanks to the teams that nominated LASER 3284 for the Gracious Professionalism Award. It was greatly appreciated and humbling.
Lastly, I would like to recognize the efforts of the 2017 rookie team 6424 Stealth Panthers from Knob Noster, MO. This rookie team did an awesome job at the event and I know they will be great program for 2017 STEAMworks and for many years to come. They traveled 2 hours to our practice facility a few weeks back to learn about the game and our practice robot. Then practicing (and repairing it) repeatedly with it to prepare for CTTD.

Re: Cow Town ThrowDown - Oct 28-29

School opens for Lee's Summit this coming Wednesday. I would expect registration to open shortly after that.

KCFIRST does have the date listed on their calendar. October 27 & 28.

Thanks, that makes sense. It got asked during the mentor's meeting in a "make sure we don't forget to signup" sort of way. It is always easy to remember on our calendar, it is the week following our two weekends of zombie fundraisers.

I was reading about the new NTX event in Plano today and thinking how lucky we are to have CTTD, how central it is in our Fall activities, and how grateful we are for 1730, Cerner and the school for hosting it.

That, as well as it is the same day as the Kansas Bandmaster Association marching festival, which means that over half of 1982 (as it currently stands with no new members, yet) will not be able to attend, including myself.

Re: Cow Town ThrowDown - Oct 28-29

Excited about this event!!!

Curious. Recent tradition has no picking inside the top 8 for alliance selection. Rules this year do not seem to require this.

From http://cttd-robotics.com/pages/compe...on_information

Quote:
C. Rules of the Game:
FIRST and the Game Design Committee did an excellent job creating rules for the 2017 game, STEAMWORKS. There may be a short list of rule changes to the game and how it is played and scored. These changes will be emailed to all registered coaches and posted here. As in the past, the following tournament rules will apply
+5 pounds allowed. Honor system, unless the referees question you.
Four teams will be on each alliance in the finals. (see section I)
Alliance selection is:
1-8
8-1
1-8
(See section I. (Alliance Selection) for a complete description of the alliance selection process.)
No extra backup teams are needed, since each alliance has its own backup. there is no requirement to play the backup team.
Alliances may choose to field any three of the four teams in the alliance. Lower seeded alliance must declare robots first
FIRST tiebreaker rules apply except for the finals where ties will be replayed.
Seeing that section "C" declares section "I" as complete, and seeing that section "I" places no restriction on which teams a captain may select...

Quote:
I. Alliance Selection:
The ALLIANCE selection process will consist of three rounds during which each ALLIANCE CAPTAIN will invite a TEAM seeded below them to join their ALLIANCE.

Round 1: In descending order (ALLIANCE One to ALLIANCE Eight) each ALLIANCE CAPTAIN will invite a single TEAM.
Round 2: The same method is used for each ALLIANCE CAPTAIN'S second choice except the selection order is reversed, with ALLIANCE Eight picking first and ALLIANCE One picking last.
Round 3: ALLIANCE One will pick first then going in order with Alliance EIGHT picking last.
This process will lead to eight ALLIANCES of four teams. ALLIANCES may compete with any three of their four robots in any given elimination match.
Ergo, captains may now select within the top 8 for the first time since 2010!!! Maybe??? Will look for clarification.

Re: Cow Town ThrowDown - Oct 28-29

Time to get Hyped. The Cow Town ThrowDown is nearly here.

This is one of the premiere off-season events in the Midwest, hosted by Team Driven (FRC 1730). Each year it attracts teams from several states away and fills to capacity with a waiting list to get in. This year's participants include teams from Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Iowa, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Nebraska.

Of the 48 teams scheduled to attend with a 2017 history (Everyone but a B-team and a Pre-Rookie):

30 of them attended more than one official regional or championship event in the 2017 season.

34 played in the elimination rounds of an official event.

31 high-fived the judges during the awards ceremony.

18 attended one of the world championships.

7 played in an elimination round of the championships.

Obviously not the official source on this, but I have it on good authority that this is indeed true.

Event should be pretty fun, plenty of good gear robots and a few shooters should make for an interesting event. Definitely looking forward to it.

Re: Cow Town ThrowDown - Oct 28-29

Is there a way we can get the teams list into The Blue Alliance? Our scouting system pulls from the TBA API, and I am working on some pre-scouting. This could be easy if the Chezy Arena is in use, but I am unsure if thatís the case. I canít remember if yíall have use Chezy Arena in the past as I have not attended since 2015 (which feels like forever ago btw).

It is not Chezy Arena -- standard FMS for this event.

Wait, is 4256 coming to CTTD? If so, I need a more up to date team list.
