2017 FIRST Mentor Camp

Well, it is that time of year to start thinking about how we did this past year and how we can improve as mentors. This year is going to be an epic camp and it would be great to see everyone there.

This year we have moved over to Kettering University and have already arranged for some epic presenters.

We raised the cost to $12 this year to cover the costs of the registration system. (Unexpected cost last year, Ugh)

Anyhow, here is the registration:

https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2017-fi...on-34991336028

Here are the presentations lined up so far:

To allow FIRST Mentors the opportunity to learn away from students so they can be more successful with students on their team

If this wasn't the same day as MARC I would consider attending.

I completely understand. We tried for the weekend before but Kettering has Graduation that weekend. We have had a lot of success with attendance and presenters in June due to ALL of the programs being at rest at this time of year. If there is a way you guys could work it out, we would love to have you. You guys had an awesome year and represented Michigan well at the Championships. Great work this year!

So excited for this opportunity! Registered already. May I suggest a happy hour or dinner afterwards for networking?

Re: 2017 FIRST Mentor Camp

Would these presentations be recorded and/or later published? These all sound super helpful, especially as a new mentor, but unfortunately I'm across the country.

Re: 2017 FIRST Mentor Camp

I second this. It would be really helpful to upload videos of these presentations to Youtube so that people who aren't able to attend still be able to get valuable information.

Re: 2017 FIRST Mentor Camp

Yes!! I was despondent when the Conference channel on Twitch didn't broadcast ANY of the sessions in St. Louis or Houston. All this great n00bie mentor information.... presented to the teams who obviously know what they are doing (since they are at the championships in the first place).

That aside - if there are any recordings of those sessions or these - let me know.

Re: 2017 FIRST Mentor Camp

Is there a live stream or some kind of content that can be accessed after the fact (i.e. youtube videos, copies of slide decks, handouts, etc)? I would love to attend, but I'm in Idaho for the summer.

I would be interested in attending in a virtual manner.
Allow me to navigate to different presentations and ask a question in real time.

Re: 2017 FIRST Mentor Camp

What's the difference between the workshops and the sessions? Is one more of a presentation and the other more hands-on?

That is correct, Sessions will be more presentation oriented and Workshops Hands-On.

Is there a schedule published yet? We are trying to divide and conquer.

Re: 2017 FIRST Mentor Camp

Are there parking restrictions? A specific building where registration is at? Will there be an area to get lunch? Do we sign up for the workshops / sessions we want, or just show up? Will there be time to see all of them, or are they scheduled? Thanks.
I'm really looking forward to this event. I can't wait to meet everyone.
