BIMBA Shipping

How long do BIMBA cylinders ordered with the voucher normally take to ship (asking international teams more than US teams)? We ordered ours back on January 19th and still haven't seen them. I had heard that they can take a while to ship, but is 3.5+ weeks really typical? I'm planning on calling tomorrow about the status of our order(s), but figured I'd ask here to hear others experiences.

Re: BIMBA Shipping

I believe that isnt unusual for us Canadian teams. We usually purchase the cylinders we need from Mcmaster-Carr for intial building, then get spares from BIMBA.

Re: BIMBA Shipping

As a Canadian I know on a occasion we've ordered cylinders the first week of build season and not received them until build season is over.

Re: BIMBA Shipping

Ordered January 31st, still don't have them. Called late last week. Said they hadn't shipped yet, and were coming from Mexico factory and set to ship sometime near bag day. With only a handful of sizes, and nothing fancy, this should be a stock item. I've gotten stuff from China faster. I don't get it.

Re: BIMBA Shipping

Friendly reminder that AutomationDirect probably has what you need in stock and ships 2-day Fed-ex standard FREE for orders over $49.(see page 7 of this for all Canada shipping info)

And you can probably get one or more of those for free if you use the AutomationDirect KOP Voucher.

Go here to see all Pneumatics stuff

Go here to see cylinder selection. Use the parametric search on the left to narrow down your choices.

A LOT of teams are using the miniature regulators and gauges.

You guys are the best. I love all of your pneumatic component options. I exclusively order them from there now because of quick shipping reasonable prices and the huge variety you offer. Thanks!

Re: BIMBA Shipping

Bimba has a totally unreasonable turnaround time. I would never use the Bimba PDV for a part I actually needed during build season, unfortunately, and I would certainly never actually pay Bimba any money for cylinders unless I needed a custom one (e.g. with the ports rotated 90 degrees).

Seconding the automationdirect recommendation above; fast shipping, good prices, high-quality stuff from them.

Generally agree; we tend to order ours on spec for future uses rather than betting the farm on them. (Take a look at your cylinder inventory, go "Huh, we don't really have anything 3-4" stroke to prototype with...", and order accordingly. Just because it's slow doesn't mean it's useless. )

Re: BIMBA Shipping

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately we don't have the budget to go via McMaster or automation direct (automation direct also doesn't appear to carry 3/4in bore - 18in throw cylinders). Hopefully these cylinders come not too long after bag and tag as our climber is heavily dependent on them.

Guess that's what our withholding allowance is for \_(ツ)_/

Got you beat! Ordered Jan 27 and still no cylinders (using voucher). Also called and got the "we had to do inventory, so we were down for 2-3 days" reason. Was told I'd get them in 7-10 days from call... which was 10 days ago. Could have flown to Mexico and brought them back quicker!

Good thing McMaster had the exact same cylinders and they deliver next day.

UPDATE: I posted too soon! Just got the two cylinders. Only two and a half weeks.

Re: BIMBA Shipping

This year we order them week 1 or 2 and they came a week or so later. Last year I forgot we had the voucher and used it the last day, they didn't come until the end of June. So normal has been anywhere from 1 week to 2 months. If it's something you are waiting on I would go ahead and buy some from somewhere else. Automation direct is a good place plus you get a $35 voucher and free 2 day shipping on orders over $49.

Got our cylinders today after calling about 10 days ago. Thank you Bimba! for those of you who have not received them, call. They are very helpful on the phone.
