Didn't say it wasn't. Wouldn't you agree that 110 points is more entertaining than 5 points, though?

Dead bots cant struggle to score. Much rather not watch them struggle.

Re: Beach Blitz 2018

Beach Blitz was incredible. We took a record number of new students to this event and they all had a blast.

Thanks to Pauline, Tom, Andrew and crew for allowing me to ramble on stream for my two panels and for allowing my strategy team to share our scouting processes during the Workshop series.

The A̶V̶R̶ ̶2̶:̶ ̶E̶l̶e̶c̶t̶r̶i̶c̶ ̶B̶o̶o̶g̶a̶l̶o̶o̶ Beach Blitz bracket was incredibly stacked. Thanks to 3476 for joining us for another try as well as 6072 for staying rock solid all elims. We aren't by any measure a team known for programming, so being able to pick a 3 cube scale auto in 3476 and a 2 cube switch auto in 6072 allowed us to take less risks during auto. Thank you for helping us break our Semifinals curse.

We're grateful to Eric and the rest of the referee crew for putting the team experience first. As a team, we definitely do get passionate about the matches and we're grateful to the referees for being patient, understanding, and receptive to team questions. Big shouts out to the rest of the field crew for making sure things ran smoothly.

Thanks everyone. Looking forward to crossing paths with many of you this season. We'll definitely be putting Beach Blitz at the top of our list for the 2019 offseason.

Re: Beach Blitz 2018

This year, I had the misfortune of having to miss my first Beach Blitz event, but I've gotta say that this event has grown and matured ever since we all started back in 2016.

Not only has the event itself "upgraded" in quality from fantastic livestream and A/V to a commitment to spreading skills via specific and experience-enriched workshops, but Beach Blitz has also seen some amazing SoCal teams really test their mettle and show off what improvements and competitiveness they're capable of.

Thank you to all of you on the planning committee, the volunteers, and especially the teams that keep on coming back to make Beach Blitz an even better event. It may take just a few teams to start an event the first time, but it takes a community to turn an event into an experience that people take pride in when they break into quarters, semis, finals, etc.

Here's to raising SoCal's competitiveness year-over-year. Can't wait to see how all of our attendees put any lessons learned into practice for the official season.

Re: Beach Blitz 2018

Beach Blitz proved why it's the best SoCal offseason event. It had a great positive vibe and an incredible production value. The workshops and panels were especially helpful, I got a lot of new insight on how to be a more effective mentor for my team. Thank you so much to the entire Beach Blitz crew for putting it on this year!

Also, thank you to Team 3309 The Friarbots and Team 2122 Team Tators for inviting us to join your alliance and for helping us take home our first event win! It was a pleasure working with such remarkable teams during the eliminations.

I can't wait for next year's Beach Blitz!

Re: Beach Blitz 2018

Match video (feat. RSN) is now available!

You can watch the playlists on our YouTube channel:
In addition, you can watch awards here:
Qualification matches are all up on The Blue Alliance as well and the elims have been submitted and should be up shortly. The awards and some other fun stuff will be put on the "Media" tab at a later date.

Please note: certain portions of the audio have been cut out for copyright purposes.

Enjoy! Thanks again to everyone for coming and helping out.

Oh, look: It's closer to 1:00 AM than 2:00 AM - I'm improving, or something.

Re: Beach Blitz 2018

One of the shooter robots at Blitz carried a 360 camera. Video might be a little slow to get up on the team Youtube channel... but should be pretty worth it.
