Double Climb Instances

How often have y'all seen two robots on the same alliance climb during one match, with neither robot being supported by another? Simply, how viable is the strategy to climb alongside and independent of your alliance members?

4009 and 525 at Great Northern Regional. Believe that was the only one in the entire regional.

All the double climbs I have seen were independent climbers because the event I was at had no successful ramp bots and a robot that could climb on the side of the bar.

Re: Double Climb Instances

We had 2 successful double climbs with 810 where they would deploy a hook and climb after us (although we were a bit worried during Q37 about burning out our 4 775s since our lift is using a single speed gearbox without a ratchet/locking mech )

Re: Double Climb Instances

Every time you guys did that it was scary looking. It worked and kudos for you, but with the space available it is gonna be tough and I can see robots getting damaged from interaction with other robots.

Though it is interesting that NY was won by the ramp bot at the competition.

Re: Double Climb Instances

At Palmetto there was one at QM40 with 4451 climbing on the center of the rung and 1876 on the side after they had gotten up:

Re: Double Climb Instances

We did it a couple of time. We have two hooks tied together on a flexible pole, all we have to do is get one up anywhere on the rung and at t=30 we can step aside as we have about 6 feet of loose rope. Then any center climbing bot can do their work while we are out of the way. It take us about a second to join our partner up in the air.

Re: Double Climb Instances

5546 did it at CHS Haymarket in Northern VA.
Can't remember the match.

We just have a deployable hook, so we can attach then back away until our partner climbs.
