Re: 2018 Houston Division Assignments

Turing is going to be a bloodbath. We've got a high-skill mid range instead of being stacked towards the top like other divisions. This'll be fun..

Newton looks pretty intense - from a quick scan through, they have:
118, 624, 971, 1011, 1619, 1678, 3309, 3310

Re: 2018 Houston Division Assignments

Based on a quick scan...

Carver: 16, 341, 1425, 1690, 2910
Galileo: 330, 846, 1574, 1577, 1986, 3005, 4488, 4587, 4613
Hopper: 148, 254, 359, 399, 973, 3339
Newton: 118, 624, 971, 1011, 1619, 1678, 3309, 3310
Roebling: 179, 1323, 1540, 1730, 1983, 3476
Turing: 842, 987, 1538, 1806, 2046, 2122, 2471

The stand outs seem to be Newton and Turing... I can see some streaks (1678, 987) in danger here.

Man FIRST really loves putting powerhouse PNW teams on Turing. Seems like they gravitate towards grouping teams from specific districts together not sure why.

They also threw a lot of NC's powerhouse teams in Turing:
- 1533, Great Scalebot w/ effective rear ramp
- 2059, 2642 and 4561 are also among the best scalebots in NC
- 2655 is a very strong switch/exchange bot

Re: Houston Divisions Are Out!

I saw that someone put their region's teams in the divisions they're in. PNW is still stacked in Turing but I figured I would show the spread anyway. I'm also averaging the team's district championship rankings together per field they're on and ideally this division with the lowest DCMP ranking would be the strongest with respect to the Pacific Northwest teams. There were also three teams that qualified to worlds but did not qualify for the PNW DCMP. I dealt with this problem by inputting their overall district ranking or omitting their input.

Carver (7)
1425 (2), 2811 (48) , 2910 (12), 2928 (17), 3238 (42), 4911 (15), 5803 (6)

Average Ranking: 20.286

Galileo (4)
3674 (27), 4488 (5), 6831 (21), 4205 (101*)

Average Ranking: 38.5* or 17.667

Hopper (6)
957 (19), 2976 (38), 2990 (39), 3223 (4), 3711 (44), 7034 (25)

Average Ranking: 28.167

Newton (4)
2980 (107*), 4061 (26), 4125 (62), 4513 (10)

Average Ranking: 51.25* or 32.667

Roebling (8)
488 (51), 1540 (57), 1778 (31), 1983 (14), 2522 (18), 2522 (20), 2906 (58), 4980 (30)

Average Ranking: 34.875

Turing (10)
360 (9), 568 (81*), 1318 (7), 2046 (3), 2471 (8), 2557 (1), 3218 (13), 3663 (24), 5468 (11), 6445 (46)

Average Ranking: 20.3* or 13.556

PNW-wise the fields are ranked Turing, Galileo, Carver, Hopper, Newton, Roebling, respectively. Interestingly enough, Turing has the highest percentage of top 10 teams. Is another PNW alliance win possible for the Turing division? There's only one way to find out.

EDIT: Half of the PNW alliance from 2017 is on Turing for the second year in a row. The other half was unable to qualify for championship.

Re: Houston Divisions Are Out!

Newton is going to be an absolutely brutal match between higher teams, but Turing will definitely have some of the best and closest matches
