Requesting Any and All Smoked Motors

DO YOU SMOKE MOTORS? Shame... don't you know how bad it is for you If so, I have a great offer for you. You can ship your motors straight to me and I will pay for shipping. Just send a photo of your magic smoke machine to me at smokedmotors@gmail.com along with a description of how it smoked (if possible) and we can work out payment etc. You can also feel good about supporting the habit of an underage motor user . Furthermore, this post is Marshall Approved*!

I am doing some research on motor thermal modeling, specifically for 775 pros and would like some test subjects I can dissect. While pros/redlines are preferred**, I will take one or two of some other types of motors. No international motors will be payed for, but if you want to send them you can certainly still email me for info etc.

*Marshall neither condones nor supports the smoking of motors in any context.
**I wonder if they smell different smoked?!?!?!

Oh boy...would we have loved to hear about this before we toasted 3 775pros and 2 bag motors and promptly threw them out for fear of releasing noxious carcinogens....

Re: Requesting Any and All Smoked Motors

Do you have a preference for the type of wood we smoke the motors over? I typically use oak having based my BBQ on Franklin's, but I have some wood from a plum tree we lost in a storm a few months back so I could give that a go too.

What about sauce? All that acid may cause corrosion in the mail.

As someone who sends packages with some regularity, might I suggest the ol' mail-them-a-prepaid-shipping-label method?

I always recommend throwing in a few hunks of pecan. Maybe some seasoned mesquite.

Actually, I understand they do. Can't say for sure I've smelled both, but some other folks say they have.

I know you said you wanted 775s but how about a seven time smoked bag motor? I feel a little bad about that poor motor... But not that bad

We smoked some 775s last year (remember the UNCG qualifier). I know we threw away most of those motors, but I think I saw a couple still laying around marked with a big red label that reads "BAD". I'm pretty sure we won't be able to connect those motors to the match where they smoked, but we can certainly show you the robot they were on at the time. I believe they were all swerve drive motors for last year's competition robot which is still in driving condition (albeit with miniCIMs instead of 775s). If it would help your research, we can drive that around on our practice field and collect power consumption data or other relevant loading data for that application. I think you might even know who the driver was if you want to send him over to replicate his driving style.

We have some local samples of Durham BBQ on team 6502. Would be happy to drive some over (once AP exams are over)

I definitely will take some motors. I am sending my emissary to retrieve them. (He may be a former driver on your team...) Just knowing they were on the drive train of your 2017 robot is enough to deduce the flavor.

On an unrelated note, this is a serious request (because apparently it wasn't clear). I will send you shipping labels for your smoked motors. While I enjoy trolling as much as any team 900 memeber, I am completely serious about the premise of this thread.

Re: Requesting Any and All Smoked Motors

Iíve got some motors we can send over. PM me for details. We were going to have a nice memorial service, 3D print some gravestones and coffins, but I suppose shipping them to Marshallís hive mind will do them justice just the same.

Re: Requesting Any and All Smoked Motors

I've got a smoked bag motor floating around our build room I could probably send you if you'd like. Burned due to extended stall, as I recall.

Haven't burned any of our 775s this season, so I can't help you there.
