Has anyone come up with any actual GAMEPLAY strategies?

What do you think about gameplay strategies?

here's an idea I have

maybe, instead of grabbing the goal and draggin it to our side to throw balls in, we should pull it to the opposite side and allow the opposite team to throw them in? That way, we would be closer to the scorig zone with the goal after it is filled up.

do you think they would actually throw the balls in our goal?

Hmmmm..... That's interesting. Or, you could just wait as your opponents grab a goal, pull it back, and fill it. And then, just when they think they have a full goal, that's when you wrench the goal from their (relatively) childlike grasp.

The poor suckers.

Here's a strategy for you - if you're losing a shoving match in your opponent's goal scoring zone, would you then try to simply reverse your strategy and pull the goal? When pulled, two robots and a goal can fit in an endzone longways (3+4 < 10). That way, they lose their ten goal points, and you gain ten robot points (for their robot).

IMHO, this game is going to come down to whichever team has the best drivers.

Thumbs up

I agree. An alliance that can reverse the score quickly will be most effective. Such as in your shoveling match scenario, sacrificing your position or an immediate point gain is a great strategy. In fact, it still allows the other team to get some points, but you squeak them out with a greater net influx of points. It will be beneficial in adjusting the score enough to win, but not enough to dominate (which is perfect). There are plenty of other strategies using a similar concept such as goal and ball stealing.

I think not drivers, but which coach can think and react faster to the changing situation will be the more defining person to make the most impact on the outcome of the game. I know from doing simulations of the game that keeping everting in your head about where the points are and how much time is left and which robot is stronger....glad its not me.

I dunno - I was a field coach on 118 last year - and the most helpful thing I could do for my drivers was to tell them how much time was left, or scream to hit the button.

This year's gameplay is much more complex, though, so maybe you have a point.
